After this, the District Magistrate himself or on the request of some gentleman appointed a person to keep guard at Swamiji’s residence for his protection.

An exorcist was staying in Mirzapur. He boasted that if someone made him do ‘ Maran’s Purashcharan’, Dayanand would die on the twenty-first day. There was no dearth of fools among idol worshippers. One of them, a rich Seth said, take as much money as you want and go ahead. it’s only been three or four days Luckily, Sethji developed a boil in his throat. He assumed such a hideous form that it became difficult for Sethji to eat, drink, speak and walk. They became so frightened that their feces and urine came out and they became unconscious and were brought back to consciousness by sprinkling water on them.

When Swamiji was in Anupshahar, a Brahmin, angry with Swamiji’s refutal of idol worship, poisoned him in betel leaves. When Swamiji came to know about it, he expelled it from his body through Nyoli Kriya and became healthy. When the Muslim Tehsildar Syed Muhammad, who was a devotee of Swamiji, came to know about this incident, he caught the Brahmin and imprisoned him. When Swamiji came to know about this incident, he said, leave that Brahmin. I have not come to imprison the world, but to free it from prison. One day Swamiji told his former acquaintance devotee Babu Rajinikanth that one day when we were meditating, an opponent came with a sword to kill us but when we roared, he got up and ran away.

When Swamiji came to Kanpur on 20 October 1873, the city Kotwal Sultan Ahmed became a hindrance in Swamiji’s lecture as he did not want him to deliver the lectures. On his encouragement the Maulvi started talking nonsense. The pundits tried to kill Swamiji by throwing bricks and stones. The Kotwal had a full hand in this, but then the British police captain came there and ordered that Swamiji’s lectures would continue as before. We will be present ourselves. It seems that the police captain had some suspicion about the Kotwal’s misdeeds.

In Vrindavan itself, a recluse tried to kill Swamiji by luring some goons with Rs 1000/-, but he did not succeed.

In Mathura, Pt. Deviprasad Deputy Collector asked Swamiji to stay today as there will be a debate . There was no debate but four-five hundred persons came with sticks to beat Swamiji. Hearing the noise, Thakur Bhuyal Singh Risaldar got scared and closed the gate of the garden where Swamiji was staying, but Swamiji did not get scared at all. Some Kshatriya followers of Swamiji also came by chance. No one had the courage to enter inside. When Pandit Devi Prasad arrived, everyone ran away.

During Swamiji’s stay in Mumbai (December 1874), the people of Ballabh sect became Swamiji’s ultimate enemies. One day Goswamiji called Swamiji’s cook Baldev and said that if you kill Swamiji, we will give you Rs 1000/-. Immediately gave him five rupees and five pounds of sweets and wrote a note of Rs 1000/-. Right now Baldev was standing near Jeevani Gusai. Someone informed Swamiji that your cook was standing near Jeevani. When he returned, Swamiji asked the whole story. The cook told everything truthfully. Swamiji told that he had been poisoned many times, had not died and would not die even now. Baldev apologized. Swamiji threw sweets, tore the letter and instructed him not to go to their place in future.

In this context, one day Gokuliye Gusaiya, a group of twenty people of his followers Kachhi Baniyas, went to Balkeshwar with the intention of beating Swamiji, but they could not succeed.

Some wicked people hired killers to kill swamiji . The killers stayed in Balkeshwar looking for an opportunity. Swamiji used to take Baldev along for a walk on the beach. Deadly people used to chase Swamiji. One day Swamiji had an encounter with them . Swamiji asked about their intention wheather they wanted to kill him but they did not answer and after this stopped following Swamiji. Swamiji continued going for a walk on the same road as before.

The people of Ballabh sect once again tried to kill Swamiji. They gave two hundred rupees to two goons. One day both of them entered Swamiji’s room at night. At that time Seth Sevaklal was sitting near Swamiji.. He caught the killers. When asked, they admitted that they had been paid Rs 200 for killing Swamiji.

During Swamiji’s stay in Surat, Pandit Ichchashankar and some other scholars came forward with the intention of having a debate with Swamiji, but Swamiji made them speachless. Meanwhile it started getting dark and Some bricks fell there . All this was done by Gelabhai and some evil minded people who had decided to humiliate Swamiji and the bricks were thrown as per their plan.

In Moradabad in November 1876, after listening to Swamiji’s lecture on refutation of idol worship, a Brahmin named Tika became so enraged that he started abusing Swamiji and saying that this scoundrel insults our gods, one should not even look at his face and went away. Swamiji did not pay any attention to his abuses.

In March 1877, in Chandapur, Swamiji had narrated his ordeal to Bakshiram and Munshi Indramani. When Swamiji was wandering alone, he reached a place where the Shaktas lived. They did great service to Swamiji. After several days, when Swamiji was about to leave, they insisted him to stay. Swamiji thought that they were doing this out of devotion.
One day when their festival came everyone went to the temple. They requested Swamiji a lot to accompany them to the temple even if he do not pay obeisance to the idol. That temple was in a desolate place outside the city. When Swamiji went to the temple, he saw a strong man standing there with a naked sword in his hand. The priest of the temple asked Swamiji to pay obeisanceby bowing his head in front of Durga Mata. When Swamiji refused, the priest forcefully started bending Swamiji’s neck. Swamiji was shocked by his behavior and understood that there was something fishi. Swamiji quickly snatched the sword from the priest, pushed him to hit the wall of the temple. When Swamiji came out people in the courtyard of the temple attacked Swamiji with weapons like knives, axes etc. The door was locked. Swamiji jumped up on the wall and ran away. Stay hidden in a safe place throughout the day. When night fell, they reached a village. From that day Swamiji never trusted Shakta people.

During his stay in Kashi, Swamiji used to live in a leaf hut. There was also a camp of some sadhus nearby. They had enmity with swamiji without any reason. One day, in the pitch darkness of the night, they came to Swamiji’s hut and started discussing about the assassination of swamiji. Swamiji listened to their talk. After some time they set the hut on fire , when it started burning swamiji came out by removing the roof of the hut.

Poison in betal leaves –One day when swamiji was giving lecture in Kashi a brahmin brought him a betal leaf, he took it with simple nature and ate it. As he ate he realized that the betal leaf contains poison then he took out the poison from his body through vomitting. According to ‘Dayanand Prakash’ swamiji told above incident to the people at Dr. Raheem Khans residence in Lahore.

On 30th Janauary 1876 swamiji reached Gujral city in Punjab state. A notorious scoundral whom people called son of blind woman, used to abuse swamiji a lot. He used to openly state that either he will kill swamiji or cut his nose. He used to make very absurd allegations against swamiji. Even the police did not scold him. Mehta Gyan Chand and hisfriends were worried that the evil one might do some harm to swamiji, so they caushioned him. Swamiji asked them wheather they see my stck, nobody can attack me, I alone is heavier than 10 -12 persons. One day when Swamiji was delivering a lecture some brics fell on the table but swamiji did not react and continued his lecture and after completion of his lecture went back to his place.

One day a man threw a brick on swamiji but it did not hit him. The policeman caught him but he denied throwing the brick. Swamiji forgave him. Swamiji said that it was not a new incident for him. Forgive these people and preach them.

On Feb. 1878 Swamiji was giving sermon in Wazirabad, there Pt. Vasudev recited a hymn which proves the worship of Shaligram and Tulsi. Swamiji told that it was not a ved mantra but it was the commentry of mantra and insisted him to present original mantra. Fear of disturbance increased as huge crowd gathered there. As long Pt. Ramchander , honrary magistrate was present there it was peaceful but after his departure for some work a boy started making noise. Swamiji instructed to silence the boy, at this Lala Labdharam Sahni, aprentice engineer hit the boy with stick. Mythological people who were already frustrated got a chance and started hitting Lala Labhda ram. The memebers of Arya Samaj Wazirabad and Jhelam who were present there protected him. They sent Swamiji and Lalaji to their residence and closed the doors but the gathering did not move and kept shouting. The clerk of Swamiji got furious and he went among the gathering with a stick but a single person can not do anything against hundreds of persons and he got beaten badly. When Swamiji came to know about this, he himself came out with a stick and roared loudly and chased away the people. Then Swamiji went from there to Gujranwala on 7th February.

On June 18, 1878, during the debate in Amritsar, suddenly there was an uproar. Brick blocks started being thrown at the meeting place. Swamiji Maharaj was also hit by one of the obstacles, but he somehow survived, many others were injured and blood started flowing from their bodies. The police stood watching and neither stopped nor arrested anyone. The disturbance was quelled with great difficulty.
